Martin Giere
MENOMONIE – Martin Giere, 91, formerly of 1221 10th St., died Thursday afternoon at Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Mower County, Minnesota and married the former Mabel Holton on Aug. 13, 1913. He farmed in the Wheeler area most of his life.
Survivors include eight daughters, Mrs. Margaret Riedel, Eau Claire, Mrs. Ida Lausted, Menomonie, Mrs. Richard Hansen, Pound, Mrs. Leonart Johnson, Belvedere, Ill., Mrs. Donald Jenson, Naperville, Ill., and Mrs. Donald Mense, Rice Lake, Mrs. Russell Peterson, Fond du Lac, and Mrs. Charles Johnson, Eagle Grove, Iowa; two sons, Raymond, Menomonie, and Roger, Colorado Springs, Colo.; 32 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church, with burial in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery at Wheeler.
Friends may call at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie from 1 p.m. Sunday until 11 a.m. Monday, and at the church from noon until time of services Monday.

Martin Giere, 91, formerly of 1221 Tenth St., Menomonie, died on Thursday, March 10, at Memorial Hospital in Menomonie.
He was born in July 29, 1885, in Mower County, Minnesota, to Sivert and Ingeborg Mahle Giere.
He married Mabel Holten in Hayfield, Minn., on Aug. 13, 1913. In 1915, the couple moved to Dunn County where they farmed for many years.
He had been a resident of the American Lutheran Home in North Menomonie for the past two years.
Services were held on March 14 at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Hilmar Mostul officiating. Burial was in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery.
Surviving are two sons: Raymond of Menomonie, and Roger of Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight daughters: Mrs. Margaret Riedel, Eau Claire, Mrs. Ida Lausted, Menomonie, Mrs. Richard (Stella) Hansen of Pound, Mrs. Lennart (Jeanette) Johnson of Belvidere, Ill., Mrs. Donald (Arlene) Jensen of Naperville, Ill., Mrs. Donald (Geraldine) Mense of Rice Lake, Mrs. Russell (Audrey) Pederson of Fond du Lac, and Mrs. Charles (Marilyn) Johnson of Eagle Grove, Ia.; 32 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one son.
