Death notice published in the Dunn County News on November 15, 1928:

Sievert Giere, about 80 years old, died Sunday forenoon at his home east of town, the direct cause being pneumonia. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon t the Lutheran church. His daughters, Mrs. Fred Koenig and Mrs. Mary Valsvik, of Rochester, Minn., came Friday to help care for him.

PIONEER DIES OF PNEUMONIA
Severt Giere, Age 80, of Woodland Dells Succumbs Sunday Morning.
Woodland Dells. – Severt Giere died Sunday forenoon at his home here after a few days' illness of pneumonia. He was 80 years, 6 months and 24 days old at the time of his death. Mr. Giere had been in very good health and was very active considering his age, and was about helping on the farm until the day he became ill. He is survived by three sons, all of Wheeler, and two daughters of Rochester, Minn., 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Mary Valsvik and Mrs. Fred Koenig of Rochester arrived Friday, being called here on account of the serious illness of their father, Severt Giere.

Severt M. Giere was born at Voss, Norway, and died at Wheeler, Nov. 11 at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 27 days. Pneumonia was the cause of his death. His wife preceded him in death April 14, 1992. His son, Leo, died June 13, 1927. Two other children died in infancy.
He leaves five children to mourn his loss, Mrs. Mary Valsvik and Mrs. Fred Koenig of Rochester, Minn., and Lewis, Martin and Albert of Wheeler. He also leaves thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one sister and three brothers.
Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock at the home and 2 o'clock at the Lutheran Church at Wheeler, Rev. Peterson officiating.
