Mrs. Martin (Mabel) Giere, 72, 1221 10th St., city, died Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Memorial hospital. She was born June 3, 1895 in Hayfield, Minn., and was married to Martin Giere, Aug. 1913, in Rochester, Minn. She had been a resident of Dunn county for 52 years and a resident of Menomonie for 13 years.
She is survived by her husband, Martin, city; eight daughters, Mrs. Walter (Ida) Lausted, Colfax; Mrs. Margaret Riedel, Eau Claire; Mrs. Richard (Stella) Hansen, Lena; Mrs. Lennart (Jeannett) Johnson, Belvidere, Ill.; Mrs. Donald (Arlene) Jenson, Naperville, Ill.; Mrs. Donald (Geraldine) Mense, Greenfield; Mrs. Russell (Audrey) Peterson, Fond du Lac; and Mrs. Robert (Marlene) Brown, Menomonie; two sons, Raymond, Menomonie, and Roger, Rt. 4, city; one sister, Mrs. Hilma Christenson, Montevideo, Minn.; four brothers, Edmund, Howard and Oscar Holtan, all of Hayfield, Minn., and Gerald, Seattle, Wash.; 28 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran church with Rev. Hilmar Mostul officiating. Interment was in Our Savior's Lutheran cemetery, Wheeler.
