Ida S. Lausted, 94, a resident of the Onalaska Care Center in Onalaska, WI passed away on January 23, 2011.
She was born on December 5, 1916, in Otter Creek Township, Wisconsin, to Martin and Mabel (Holtan) Giere and grew up in Wheeler, Wisconsin. Ida worked at various jobs in Eau Claire and Menomonie, WI. She then married Walter Lausted on March 25, 1944, in Menomonie. They farmed in the town of Tainter until Walter's death. Ida then moved to Menomonie, WI, where she worked at the Menomin Motel and later at Menomonie Veterinary Clinic until she retired.
Ida is survived by a son, Gerald (Marlys) Lausted of Menomonie; and a daughter, Carol (Victor) Halvorson of La Crosse; four grandchildren, Heidi (Curt) Wieland, Christopher (Danielle Vermaak) Lausted, Scott (Maria) Halvorson and Jeff (Kelli) Halvorson; four great-grandchildren, Madeline and Josephine Lausted and Catherine and Henry Wieland; three sisters, Geraldine Mense, Arlene (Don) Jensen and Marilyn (Charles) Johnson; two brothers, Raymond Giere and Roger Giere.
In addition to her husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Margaret Riedel, Jeanette Johnson, Stella Hansen and Audrey Peterson; one brother, Vernon Giere; along with many nieces and nephews.
Ida was a very loving person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, WI. Pastor Dave Whelan will officiate. Burial will follow in Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials are preferred to Peace Lutheran Church.
