His obituary from the Russell County Kansas Historical Society, reads:
Edward Dumler, the son of George B. and Mary Katherine (Schlothauer) Dumler, was born July 7, 1899, at Russell, KS. He departed this life on Dec. 25, 1966 at the K.U. Medical Center in Kansas City. His age was 67 years, 5 months and 18 days.
A lifetime resident of Russell, he attended school graduating from the elementary grades and two years of high school. On June 28, 1931 he was united in marriage to the former Alice Fink. There were two children born to this union, Jean Eileen and Larry Edward. Larry preceded his father in death on Aug. 3, 1954. Ed worked at various occupations and for many years he operated the bulk station and tank wagon service for Phillips 66 Oil Co., considerate and dependable, he made many friends through his many years as a businessman, sportsman, and through his interest in his home, church, and fraternal affiliations. He was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church, BPOE; IOOF; Russell Masonic A.F & A.M.; Allepo Commandry of Hays; Ellsworth Council; Isis Temple, Salina; the Wichita Consistory and the Rebekah Lodge.
With his wife, he was completing a new home four miles south of Russell after selling their home at 6th and Fossil in Russell, when he became seriously ill and entered the Russell Hospital on Nov. 26. However his condition did not improve and he was taken to the K.C. Hospital on Dec. 14. Medical skill was of no avail and he passed away at 4:00 a.m. Christmas morning.
To treasure and remember his many acts and deeds are his wife, Alice of the home; his daughter, Mrs. Gary Brooks, Terre Haute, IN; seven brothers and sisters: Mrs. Jacob (Mary) Meier, Wichita; Mrs. Edward (Elizabeth) Mohl; Mrs. Grace Wilkerson, both of Russell; Pauline Dumler, LaVerne, CA; Carl and Albert Dumler of San Diego, CA; and Rudolph Dumler of Russell, KS. Many other near relatives and close friends. His parents and a sister, Mrs. Julia Rogg, preceded him in death.

Ed Dumler, Tank Agent, Dies on Christmas Day
Ed Dumler, of 67, of Rt. 12, Russell, died Christmas Day in the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City.
He became seriously ill Nov. 26 and entered the Russell Hospital. On Dec. 14 he was transferred to the KU Medical Center where he died at 4 a.m. Dec. 25.
The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, in the Trinity Methodist Church. Rev. Harold C. Lambert will officiate. Deines Brothes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in the Russell Cemetery.
Casket bearers at the service are Willis Schmidt, Vernon Dumler, Clifford Pabitsky, Armin Strecker, M. D. Shaw and Doran Dole. Melvin Neil will be soloist and Mrs. Herbert J. Michaelis accompanist.

A son, Larry Edward died Aug. 3, 1954 in an electrical accident in the home.
Mr. Dumler operated the Phillips Petroleum tank wagon and bulk service for many years. He was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church of the Elk Odd Fellows and Masonic lodges - Allepo Commandery, Hays; Ellsworth Council; Isis Temple, Salina; and the Wichita consistory. An active sportsman and conservationist, he was well known in the area.
He and his wife recently sold their home in Russell and were completing a new home four miles south of Russell when he became seriously ill.
