13 August 1971
Robert Jerry Ferguson, 80, of 422 N. Iowa, died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday at the Ottumwa Hospital. He had been in failing health for the last several weeks.
He was a John Morrell employee, retiring in 1955.
His death followed by two days that of his son Glen.
He was born in Ottumwa Aug. 29, 1890, the son of George and Ida Parnell Ferguson. He was a member of the East End Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Eagles.
He was married Sept. 1, 1908, in Ottumwa to Mellie Muldoon, who died in 1963. Surviving are two sons, Russell and Floyd, and one daughter, Mrs. Eloise Bainbridge, all of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, one brother, Jesse Ferguson of Ottumwa.
The service will be Saturday at 1 a.m. at the Jay Funeral Home. The Rev. James Postel of Trinity Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service.
