D. P. Arterburn, Retired Cummins Employee, Stricken
D.P. Arterburn, 58, a retired Cummins Engine company employee, died Tuesday morning at his home, 1909 Newton street.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Reed funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Richard Yeaton. Burial will be at Garland Brook cemetery. Persons may call at the funeral home.
Born in Flippin, Ky., Feb. 16, 1908, he was the son of the late Gus and Lura Turner Arterburn. He spent most of his early life in Kentucky, moving to Columbus 25 years ago. Aug. 10, 1924, he married the former Verda Temple. Mr. Arterburn, a member of the Baptist church, retired from Cummins in October of 1965 due to ill health.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, William Arterburn of Route 4 and Louis Arterburn of 2014 Fourteenth street; two daughters, Mrs. Donald Spencer of North Vernon route 5 and Mrs. Clarence Whitis of Route 7; six brothers, Bart Arterburn of 1109 Lafayette avenue, Nello Arterburn of California, Rex Arterburn of 372 Cleveland street, Edward Arterburn of 161 North Ross street, Raymond Arterburn of Lamb, Ky., and Bernice Arterburn of Montezuma.
Also, five sisters, Mrs. Gilbert Priddy of Route 2, Mrs. Jack Hunt and Mrs. Willie Hunt, both of Lamb, Ky., Mrs. Frank Good of Kent, Ohio, and Mrs. Gobel Houchens of Glasgow, Ky.; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
