Louis B."Sunshine"Arterburn, 87, of Knollwood Drive, died at 7:52 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2015, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Louis was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Kentucky, the son
of D.P. and Verda Temple Arterburn. He married Betty L. Lair Oct. 10, 1950. Louis was a graduate of Columbus High School and attended business college. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from General Motors. Louis enjoyed I.U. basketball, golfing and having breakfast with his lady friends, whom his family affectionately referred to as his"harem". He also enjoyed playing golf and experiencing new restaurants with his golfing buddies. Louis had a strong faith and a love for his country. His pride and joy were his grandsons Ryan and Collin and great-grandson Landon. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Bridgewater officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial
will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to Bartholomew County Humane Society through the funeral home. Survivors include his son, Steve Arterburn of West Palm Beach, Florida; daughter, Cindy(Mike)Crase of Columbus; sister, Faye(Clarence)Whitis of Ogilville; grandchildren, Ryan(Mackenzie)Crase and Collin Crase, both of Columbus; and a great-grandson, Landon Michael Crase. He wa preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Arterburn on March 27, 2006; brother, Bill Arterburn; and a sister Betty Spencer.
