BRIDGEPORT, Texas - Laverne Pittman, 85, died Jan. 8, in Bridgeport.
Services were Jan. 10 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Sunset with the Rev. Tim Neely and the Rev. Charles Reed officiating. Burial was in Smyrna Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Pittman was born April 17, 1918, in Sunset. She married E.L. Pittman Nov. 2, 1936, in Sunset. Pittman was a seamstress and supervisor at the Howard Woolf Dress Factory in Bowie until her retirement in 1975. She was one of three founders, and a long-time member, of the First Assembly of God Church in Sunset.
Survivors include three daughters, Eloise Willett and Elwanda Turlington, both of Sunset, and Elaine Kasner, Bridgeport; two sons, Curtis Pittman, Sheridan, and Keith Pittman, Bridgeport; two sisters, Florine Pittman, Bowie, and Nell Campbell, Langdon, ND; 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
Pittman was preceded in death by her husband, E.L. Pittman; two brothers, Alton and Elmo Blaylock; one grandson, Curtis Brent Pittman; and one great-grandson, Zachary David Turlington. 
Pallbearers were Dexter Agee, Louie Lowrance, Bennie Motley, Biff Huddleston, Kenneth Fowler, Gordon Wade, Danny Russell and Jerry Hall.
