Funeral for Elzie Lee 'El' Pittman, 86, of Sunset was to be held Thursday, Nov. 9, in the First Baptist Church in Sunset, Texas. Burial was to be in the Smyrna Cemetery in Sunset. The Revs. Charles Reed, M.L. Milton and Ernie Patterson were to officiate.

Mr. Pittman passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, in Bowie.

He was retired from the City of Bowie. He was a member of the Sunset Assembly of God Church and the Reddy-McClellan VFW Post No. 8789 in Bowie. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for heroic and meritorious service. He married Laverne Blaylock on Nov. 2, 1936, in Sunset.

Survivors include his wife, Laverne of Sunset; three daughters, Elaine and her husband Dwayne Kasner of Bridgeport, Elwanda Turlington of Sunset, and Eloise and her husband Nolan Willett of Sunset; two sons, Curtis and his wife Shirley Pittman of Sheridan and Keith and his wife Laura Pittman of Bridgeport; a sister, Elsina Terry of Newport; five brothers, Tom Pittman of Gainesville, Willard Pittman of Bowie, Richard Pittman of Lipan, Delbert Pittman of Alvarado and Eddie Pittman of Bowie; 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
