Iva Ora Hartwig, 89, of Canton died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday (Feb 4, 1987) in the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton. Mrs. Hartwig was born Sept. 28, 1897 in Lewis County, a daughter of Soloman and Mary Frances Brown Dill. Her husband Frederick C. Hartwig, died Jan. 30, 1974. She was a member of the Cententary United Methodist Church near Canton. Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Merle (Frances) Scott of Canton, Mrs. James (Dorothy) Oakes of Hawthorne, Calif., Mrs. Elmer (Opal Rubel of Independence, Ore., Mrs. Warner (Nellie) McCallister of Sublimity, Ore., Mrs. James (Mary) Logsdon of Canton, and Mrs. Walter (Donna Kay) Dochterman of Canton, two sons, J.C. Hartwig of Corvallis, Ore., and Robert Hartwig of Canton; 28 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, six brothers and five sisters. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton by the Rev. Leo Shumaker. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemtery in Canton. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with family meeting friends after 6 p.m., and until time of services Saturday.
