Last Rites For Mrs. H. E. Wynn Said Thursday

Resident of Dodsonville Section Past Thirty-Four Years Dies

Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Ellen Wynn, 71, pioneer resident of the Dodsonville area, were held Thursday, Dec. 17 from the Church of Christ in Dodsonville, conducted by Minister W. A. Adams of Childress, assisted by Rev. Van Bonneau. Services were held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon and were attended by hundreds of friends who gathered to pay final tribute to one of the old timers of this section.

Mrs. Wynn was a native of Texas, having been born at Dallas on May 10, 1865. At the age of eight years she moved with her family to Callahan County, and on Jan 1, 1887, married H. E. Wynn in Eastland, Texas. They lived there until 1902, when they moved into the area which is now Harmon County, Oklahoma, located just across the state line from Dodsonville. During the past 34 years she had lived with her family in the Dodsonville community.

She had been a member of the Church of Christ for 30 years, having joined soon after she moved to this section. During this time she had been a devout member and a faithful worker, along with the duties required of a faithful pioneer wife and mother.

On the first day of January, next, she would have been married 49 years and at the time of her death was the mother of nine living children, three having preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wynn was widely known and loved. During her long period of residence here she acquired numerous friends, many of whom she had known during the entire 34 years she resided here.

She is survived by her husband, H. E. Wynn, of Dodsonville; nine children, E. S. Wynn, Dodsonville; Mrs. G. P. Gordon, Miles; Elliott Wynn, Dodsonville; H. A. Wynn, Wellington; L. F. Wynn, Dodsonville;
Miss Floy Wynn, McLean; Marvin Wynn, Dodsonville; Ira Wynn, Wellington; Mrs. Cletus Rollins, Dodsonville. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, S. A. Fleming of Pioneer, Texas.

Hymns included were "No More Good Byes," "I Have Heard of A Land," "In The Garden," "Nearer My God to Thee," "In The Sweet Bye and Bye," "God Will Take Care Of You," and "We Shall Meet Some Day."

Pall bearers were C. C. Boyd, Gilbert Hunt, M. P. Scott, E. W. Bennett, A. G. Taylor and Al Walker. Flower bearers were Miss Lilla Lewallen, Mrs. Valma Tisdale, Jenell Hightower, Mrs. Glenn Bennett, Mrs. Bess Owens, and Mrs. Leon White.

Internment was made in the Dodsonville Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home.
