Marvin Wynn, a man whose contributions to the Dodson area reached into its business, school, lodge and civic life, died in St. Joseph's Hospital Saturday, May 18, after an illness of only a few hours. He was 62. His death was attributed to a heart attack. For more than 20 years, Mr. Wynn was manager, and for part of that time, a co-owner of the Davis Gin. "There are ferw men in Dodson who would be missed more than Marvin Wynn," a friend said in tribute.
A quiet man who did whatever had to be done, Marvin Robert Wynn, had spent almost his entire life in Dodson, although he was born at Rising Star January 31, 1901. He was a long time member of the school board and served as its secretary; a past master and for many years secretary of the Dodson Masonic Lodge. He was influential in the cotton industry of the area and contributed much to its improvement among the farmers of the Dodson section. Mr. Wynn was a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving Mr. Wynn are his wife, Vey, of the home; two daughters and a son: Mrs. Burton Gilbert of Childress; Mrs. Wayne Darnell of Roswell, NM, and Kenneth Wynn of Abilene. Three sisters and three brothers survive: Miss Floy Wynn, of Jal, NM; Mrs. Oleatus Rollins of Las Cruces, NM; Mrs. Katie Gordon of Miles; L.F. Wynn of Plainview, Ira Wynn of Amarillo, and Alf Wynn of Chlldress. There are 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
