Funeral services were held Friday, January 18, at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Christiansburg, with the Rev. Richard J. Geoghegan officiating. Interment followed in the Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg.
He was a retired employee of the Norfolk and Western Railway and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn R. Ayers; three daughters, Joann Miller of Christiansburg, Molly Tilley of Richmond and Imogene Burton of Edinburg, Ind.; a son, Terry Armbrister of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Glen Ayers of Roanoke; three sister, Mrs. Ben White of Max Meadows, Mrs. Howard McAllister of Wytheville, and Mrs. Eldridge Reynolds of Austinville. Nine grandchildren also survive.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Joy Ranch in Hillsville.
