Monroe F. Chilcote, a well known resident of Smith Valley, Cass Township, died at his home at midnight, December 18, 1951. He was 80 years of age. He had been in failing health for some time.

The deceased was born at Mapleton Depot, R.D., on January 25, 1871, a son of Jacob and Catherine Ann (Park) Chilcote. He was united in marriage to Miss Nora Dell, 28 Jan 1890, who survives.

He was a member of the Bowmans Chapel Methodist Church. He was a charter member of P. O. S. of A. Lodge No. 662, Latta Grove. He worked as a farmer and sawmill employee during his lifetime.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by the following children: Jesse Chilcote and Walter Chilcote, Hares Valley; Kathry (Mrs. Everett Nycomb), Saltillo; Dewey Chilcote, Mount Union; Edna (Mrs. Edward Miller, Williamsburg; and Fred (Mrs. Austin Ramsey), at home, 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive, along with two sisters: Mrs. Mary Dell, Mapleton, and Mrs. Albert Dell, Hares Valley, Mapleton.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Bowmans Chapel Methodist Church. His pastor, the Rev. Bruce R. Cleaver, will officiate and interment wil be made in Bowmans Chapel Cemetery by Green's Funeral Service, Huntingdon. Friends may call at the late home after 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon and until noon on Saturday. The body may be viewed at the church from 1PM until the the hour for the service.
