Mrs. Jane EUBANK, a resident of the Panhandle since 1881, closed her eyes and departed this life at her home in Glazier on September 7, 1946, at the age of 96 years, 3 weeks and 5 days.
Mrs. EUBANK was born August 11, 1850, at Parrotsville, Tennessee. Her maiden name was Lydia Jane BURNETT, the third daughters of Mr. and Mrs. James B. S. BURNETT. At the age of eighteen she went with her parents to Hamburg, Iowa. There, in the year 1869, she was united in marriage to George FARMER. To this union two daughters were born, Evalene and Margaret May. From Iowa, the family moved to the southern part of Texas, where Mr. FARMER passed away.
She was united in marriage to Henry T. EUBANK in 1876, and to this union seven children were born. In 1881, the family moved to the Panhandle, settling on Wolf Creek in Ochiltree County, where they resided until moving to Glazier. Here Mr. EUBANK died in 1917, and a son in 1918, A daughter, Kitty, passed away in infancy.
For the past forty years, the family has resided in Glazier, where until ten years ago, they operated a hotel and boarding house.
When Mr. and Mrs. EUBANK came to the Panhandle, this section of the country was less developed in a religious way then some of the countries to which we send our missionaries., Mrs. EUBANK was a member of the Christian church for more than fifty years. She was a great student, not only of the Bible, but of all good literature, and she brought religion and enlightenment, and spread the gospel of kindness and comfort. Mrs. EUBANK was a devoted mother and made many sacrifices to give her children the best education possible.
She leaves to mourn her death, seven children, Mrs. Eva BLACK of Higgins; Mrs. Margaret GLENN of Tyler; H. C. EUBANK of New Mexico; Mrs. C. C. FREEMAN of Canadian; and Tom, Dee, and Louise of the home.
Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Troy Plunk officiating. Pallbearers were Tom NEXT, Jim WILSON, David WRIGHT, Dick BARTON, Bud BRAINARD and W. O. SCOTT.
