Born June 14, 1929, in Brodbecks, PA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel I. and Florence E. (Rinehart) Zumbrum. Betty was the loving wife of the late William J. James who died December 21, 1992 and with whom she shared over forty years of marriage.
Mrs. James was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA.
Betty retired in July 1992, having worked for over fourteen years at Sealed Air Corporation, Hanover, PA. She was a member of the Over Fifty Club.
Betty is survived by her children, Brenda Sherdel of Hanover, PA, Elaine Ruhl of Freeland, MD and Sheila Myers of East Berlin, PA; six grandchildren, Chris Sherdel, Jamie Sherdel, Eric Sherdel, Josh Klinedinst, Nicole Harnish and Amanda Hockensmith; three great-grandchildren, Nyleigh Harnish, Nash Harnish and Bryson Hockensmith; two brothers, Marlin Zumbrum of Thomasville, PA and Jesse Zumbrum of Hanover, PA; two sisters, Romaine Fissel and Shirley Wildasin both of Hanover, PA; and her beloved dog, Dominick. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Norm Zumbrum and Clair Zumbrum; and a sister, Mamie Brown.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Betty will be held with the Rev. E. Robert Burkhart officiating. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA.
