A strong, stubborn (and that's a compliment!), fiercely devoted family man, Willy ran away from home as a young teenager, trying to enlist to fight WWI. He was rejected due to his age, but joined the Merchant Marines to do his part in the war effort. He fathered three children by his first marriage to Alvah. The children were Alvah, William ("Red"), and Ronald ("Toby"). The child from his second marriage is me, Rose. This gentle man overcame his lack of education (3rd grade was his last)to become a respected foreman in Jersey Central Power and Light. He overcame massive strokes at the age of 65 to defy the Dr, and taught me so many intangible lessons in life. Mostly about "stubborn" being a good thing when you know you're right, and the meaning of unconditional commitment to family and children, even when it isn't easy!! He was wellknown, loved and respected in our hometown of Belmar, NJ. I was always proud to be known as "Willy's girl". His presence blessed this world, and his influence continues to bless the lives of my children and grandchildren.
