Bettie was married to William J. E. Bullock in NC. They moved to Suffolk, VA, around the turn of the century (1900)and owned a grocery store. she gave birth to eight children, but only four survived childhood. John and Effie died quite young, and there were two others whose names have not yet been located. The survivors were Lottie, William (my Dad), Bessie, and James. Lottie and Bessie are also buried here in the family plot, along with Bessie's husband and daughter. William and James are in Glendola Cemetery (NJ) and St. Luke's Cemetery (VA) respectively.
Bettie was widowed in 1925, but then married Mr. Dennis. She was blessed with another good marriage, as witnessed by the fact that he is also buried here!
Sadly, Bettie died in 1942 before many of her grandchildren were born, and few have any memories of her. I treasure the one photo I have which shows a woman with an aura of serenity.
