Born in North Carolina to Edwin and Talitha Gurganus Bullock, he migrated north to Virginia with his family around the turn of the century (1899-1900). His wife was Bettie, and their four children who survived childhood were Lottie, William (my Dad), Bessie, and James. He set up a grocery store in Suffolk, VA. He died in 1925 due to complications of diabetes. Sadly he did not live long enough to know most of his grandchildren (including me). He used his three given names interchangeably during his life (which gave me fits for a few years, trying to follow his trail!)
