***********A big thank you to Deb*Bee for locating Minnie's exact date of birth and location. It was a wonderful surprise! You are truly an angel!**************
++++++++++++++++A huge thank you to Beatrice & Robert for adding Minnie to their birthday lists. You are both amazing!!+++++++++++
∼Minnie was born in Indian Territory, Oklahoma. When Minnie was 14 and David was 19 (2 days away from being 20), they hopped a freight train to Talihina, Oklahoma and were married. They eloped because Minnie was Choctaw Indian and marriages between races were not popular. In 1922 at the age of 34, David died and his wife and children were not welcomed into the Gee family. Because of this, the family packed up an old car and headed to California. They slept under the car on the roadside at night and when they had no gas or money, they would stop in a community and work until they could travel on.
For the names in Minnie's family photo which was made in May 1911, see her mother's (Rebecca McCurtain Darden Witt) site.
