Frieda Christina Strecker was born Nov. 23, 1914, in Russell County, KS to Jacob and Mary Katherine (Beck) Dumler. She lived most of her life in Russell County attending local schools and graduating from Russell High School in 1932. On Nov. 22, 1936, she married Armin A. Strecker, in Milberger, KS. They shared over 61 years of married life together before the death of Mr. Strecker on Sept. 25, 1998.

She was a homemaker and mother and worked many years for several Russell area motels. She enjoyed taking care of her family, cooking, walking and playing cards and bingo. After her husband's death in 1998, she moved to an assisted living facility in Paola, near her daughter, Karen. Thereafter, she moved to Lakeview Village Nursing Center, where she was living at the time of her death.
Mrs. Strecker was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, Russell.

Survivors include a son, Leon Strecker and his wife, Patty of Carlsbad, N.M.; two daughters, Karen Sturman and her husband Jack of Lenexa, KS and Peggy Drake and her husband Gary of Wichita, KS; one sister, Clara Ochs, Hoisington, KS; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded her in death were her parents; her husband, Armin; a sister, Irene Yingling; three brothers, Alvin, Adolph, and Earl Dumler, and two infant sisters, Mary & Rachel Dumler.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, Russell; burial in the church cemetery. Pohlman's Mortuary, Russell. Memorials are suggested to the church, Odyssey Hospice or the organization of the donor's choice.
