Dumler
Jacob Dumler, Jr., died at one o'clock Saturday afternoon, January 15th, at his home four miles east of Russell, after an illness of five days. He was 54 years, 11 months and three days.
Mr. Dumler was born February 12, 1883, at Blumenfeld, Russia. With his parents he came to the United States in 1891. The immigrant family came directly to Russell County, settling on a farm southeast of Russell.
From that time his entire life was devoted to agriculture in this county.
Born of devout Lutheran parents Mr. Dumler was baptized in the faith as an infant, in his native Russia.
On March 22, 1896, he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and on February 1st, 1904, he was married at Beatrice, Nebraska, to Mary Katherine Beck, who survives him.
To this union were born eight sons and daughters, six of whom survive. They are: Alvin E. of Hutchinson; Adolph A., of Galatia; Mrs. Alvin L. Ochs, Galatia; Mrs. Armin Strecker, RFD 2, Russell, Miss Irene and Earl, both of the home. Two daughters died as small children.
Also surviving are four brothers, David S., George A., Emanuel, and Alexander, all of whom reside on their own farms within 15 miles of the original family home; two sisters, Mrs. George Reissig, Russell and Mrs. George D. Maier, RFD 2, Russell; and also two grandsons.
His was the plain and simple life of a conscientious Christian. He was undemonstrative, yet deeply devoted to his family and ever considerate of his friends and business associates. For him, life held many trials and tribulations. He faced them with Christian courage, always observing that "such is the will of Almighty God."
Funeral services were held at the home and at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of Russell on Monday afternoon, January 17, with the Rev. C. Rautenstraus in charge and conducted by the Deines Brothers funeral home.
Pall bearers were: David M. Dumler, Fred Dumler, Jr., Conrad Ehrlich, J. Henry Miller, J. B. Ochs, and August F. Strecker. Burial was in the Russell Cemetery.
