James Franklin Chisum, 86 passed away Thursday morning at a local nursing home. Funeral services were held Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Jayton, Texas officiated by Rev. David Jones. Burial followed in the Jayton Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont.

Mr. Chisum was born August 3, 1918 in Wingate, Texas. He married Sammie Johnson November 28, 1947 in Aspermont, Texas. Mr. Chisum was a WWII Veteran and was a Baptist.
Mr. Chisum was a former Kent County Deputy, Water superintendent, and a self-employed mechanic.

Survivors include his wife Sammie Chisum of Aspermont, Texas, daughter Cecelia Gardner and husband Carey of Aspermont, Texas, sons Zedrick Chisum and wife Sue of Aspermont, Texas and George Chisum and wife Penny of Jayton, Texas, 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
