(R.Z.) Roger Zedrick Chisum R.Z., 91, went home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2013 from Kent County Nursing Home in Jayton, Texas. Services, officiated by Eric Swenson and assisted by Tommy Bailey, will be Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Highway 70 Church of Christ in Spur, Texas under the direction of the Zapata Funeral Home of Spur,Texas. Interment will follow at the Girard Cemetery in Girard, Texas.

R.Z. was born on September 26, 1921 in Wingate, Texas to Zannie Zedrick and Pearl Alvey Peek Chisum. He married Jean Bural in Spur, Texas on August 6, 1942, two days before being inducted into the U.S. Army Air Corps. RZ served as a Military Police Officer in San Angelo, Texas before being deployed to serve in the Asian/Pacific Theater for the remainder of the war.

RZ worked for many years as a John Deere Tractor mechanic. He later worked as a mechanic for Dickens Electric where he retired in January 1987. After his retirement he worked as a small engine mechanic repairing lawn mowers, chain saws, and other small engines. One of his greatest joys in life was being able to make repairs people could afford. R.Z. is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jean Chisum of Spur, Texas, and two daughters; Sherry Haile and husband Fred of Bleiblerville, Texas and Vicki Collins and husband Jesse of Idalou, Texas; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. R.Z was preceded in death by his parents Zannie and Pearl Chisum. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest that memorials be made to Odyssey Hospice of Lubbock or the Spur Senior Citizens Center.
