Albert Martin Hansen was born on August 5, 1914 at Enterprise Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. He was the youngest child of Andrew and Mary (Erickson) Hansen. He was baptised on August 23, 1914 at Hauges Evangelical Lutheran Church. He married Alice Vangen on February 1, 1937 at Lakefield, Jackson County, Minnesota.

Spirit Lake – Services for Albert M. Hansen, 81, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Estherville, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Jack Peterson officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. He died Thursday, March 14, 1996 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital at Spirit Lake.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

He was born Aug. 5, 1914 at Jackson, Minn. the son of Andrew C. and Mary (Erickson) Hansen and attended rural Jackson County schools. On Feb. 1, 1937 he married Alice Vangen at Lakefield, Minn. Following their marriage the couple lived in rural Jackson for 23 years. In 1960 they moved to Estherville where they both were employed at Good Samaritan Center, where he served as administrator. He served on many national committees and boards of the Good Samaritan Society. The couple retired in 1977 and spent their summers in Spirit Lake and winters in Florida. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville.

Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Art (Sharon) Hess of Greeley, Colo.; Mrs. Bruce (Molly) Hinds of Spencer and Jurene Murray, Aurora, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Hansen of Jackson, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his wife May 1, 1995; parents; one son; one granddaughter; and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 16, 1996)
