A memorial service for Henry J. Hansen of Jackson was held Sept. 29 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jackson, with Doctor Martin Lucin and Pastor John Holt officiating. Henry J. Hansen died Sept. 26, 2001, at his home in Jackson. Burial was in Hauge's Cemetery in Belmont Township, Jackson County.

Honorary bearers were Bruce Hinds, Carl Larson, Milo Holmen, Marvin Thompson and Mervin Harrington. Ushers were Arnold Benson and Roger Ringkob. The Sathe-Osterberg Funeral Home of Jackson was in charge of the arrangements.

Henry Johannes Hansen, son of Andrew and Mary (Erickson) Hansen, was born May 10, 1911, in Enterprise Township, Jackson County. As a youth, he attended country school in Enterprise Township. After his education, he worked for his family on the family farm.

On Nov. 28, 1939, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Thompson at the Hauge's Church parsonage. After their marriage, they continued to farm in Enterprise Township until moving into Jackson in 1986.

Henry had been a member of Hauge's Lutheran Church in Belmont Township until it disbanded. Then he became a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jackson. While a member of Hauge's, he had served as a deacon.

Henry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Myrtle Hansen of Jackson; one daughter, Eleanor and husband Ray Skaggs of Fairmont; one granddaughter, Linda Hollom of Fairmont; two great-granddaughters, Megan and Melissa Hollom, both of Fairmont; and two great-grandsons, Ronald and Michael Torgerson of Winnebago.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Jodie Torgerson; one brother, Albert Hansen; and one sister, Nellie Erickson.
