Alvan H. Spotswood of 2606 Crestwood Dr. died Saturday afternoon in a local hospital.
Mr. Spotswood is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Y. Spotswood; son, Roger D. Spotswood, CHattanooga; a daughter, Mrs. C. B. Meriweather, Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Russell T. Spotswood, Madrid, Spain, and a sister, Mrs. Count R. Boyd, Nashville.
The body was to be taken to Combs Funeral Home in Nashville this morning for funeral services and burial.
The family requests there be no flowers.

Services for Alvin H. Spotswood, 53, former Nashvillian who died Saturday in Chattanooga, will be at 2 p.m. today at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs funeral home, 201 Twenty fifth ave., N.
The Rev. Charles Parker will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. The body is at the funeral home.
Mr. Spotswood died in a Chattanooga hospital of cancer after a short illness.
He had lived in Chattanooga, where he was an engineer with the Tennessee Valley Authority for about 25 years.
Mr. Spotswood was born in Nashville, a son of Alvin Ernest and Emma Dalton Spotswood. He attended Duncan Preparatory school and Vanderbilt university.
He married the former Dorothy Yeargan, of Nashville, 34 years ago. She survives.
Mr. Spotswood was a Methodist.
Other survivors, in addition to his wife, are a son, Roger D. Spotswood, Knoxville; a daughter, Mrs. C. B. Meriweather, Memphis; two brothers, Russell T. Spotswood, Memphis; and Capt. George W. Spotswood, USAF, Madrid; a sister Mrs. Count R. Boyd Jr., Nashville; and three grandchildren.
