Ex - Contractor,
Dies at Age 80

John J. Bower, 80, formerly of
17 Rochester St, a long time
Lockport resident, died Monday
(Dec. 23. 1963) at Hilltop Nurs-
ing Home, Gasport, after a long
illness.
He lived in Gasport after his
birth there July 8, 1883. In
Lockport he owned and operated
his own trucking and contracting
business and was a member of
the Second Presbyterian Church.
He had been ill for the past two
years and lived at the home for
about a year before his death.
Surviving him are a daughter,
Mrs. Gordon Hayes of Lockport;
two sons, Norman Bower
of Lockport and Donald E. Bower
of Littleton, Colo.; a sister,
Mrs. Louise Argue of Lockport;
a stepson, Thomas E. Hallifax.
of Lockport; nine grandchildren;
two great - grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Lange
Funeral Home, 188 East Ave.,
where the funeral will be held
Thursday at 3:30 p.m. with the
Rev. David VanWinkle of the
Second Presbyterian Church officiating.
The family will be
present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Burial will be in Glenwood
Cemetery.
