J.W. Easley, Resident of County 68 Years, Claimed By Death

Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church in De Leon at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25, for J.W. "Will" Easley, retired farmer, who died at his home Wednesday, May 24 at 7:1 (sic)5p.m. The Rev. A.K. Marney, pastor of the church, officiated, and interment was in the De Leon cemetery.
James William Easley was born June 20, 1871 at War Eagle, Arkansas, and died May 24, 1950, being 78 years, 11 months and four days old. He was the oldest son of the late Francis M. and Margaret Brinson Easley. He came with his parents to Comanche County at the age of 3 years. Several years of his life were spent at Eldorado, Oklahoma and Estancia, New Mexico. The rest was in and around Proctor and De Leon. He had lived the past 25 years on the same place, five miles southeast of De Leon.
At the age of 26 he was converted and united with the Methodist church at Proctor.
On March 7, 1897 he was married to Miss Annie Luker of Proctor, and to this union was born seven children.

One son, Ray Luker Easley, preceded his father in death at the age of 21 years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by the following children: Earl Easley of De Leon, Lowery Easley of Charlotte, Mrs. Ruth Mayes of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mrs. Katheryn Mayes of Graham, Mrs. Lucille Dameron of Comanche and Mrs. Lois Walker of Oklahoma City.
He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, five brothers, one sister, and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

Pallbearers were his grandsons and nephews and flower girls were his granddaughters and nieces.
