William H. Brown, 76, of 79 Mapleshade Ave., Falconer, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 14, 2008) in Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA.
An area resident most of his life, he was born Dec. 27, 1931, in Erie, PA., the son of the late Chrystal and Eva Winkler Brown.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1950 to 1953, serving on the U.S.S. Soley DD 707 and in Korea. While serving in the U.S. Navy, he attended Radar School in Norfolk, Va. and received his GED.
He was employed by Monofrax-Carborundum, re-tiring in 1992, and had also been employed by C.A.R.T.S. for the past 15 years.
William was a member of the Henry Mosher Post 638, American Legion. He enjoyed playing bingo, eating at Phil and Cindy's and will be remembered as a hard worker.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine M. Hultin Brown; six children, William H. Brown II of Ellery Center; Kathleen M. Cornelius of Falconer; Sandra L. Lee of Florida; Vicki A. Birt of Conewango Valley; Jefferey S. Brown of West Ellicott, Jamestown; Brian W. Smith of Jamestown; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Lawrence G. Brown of Ellington; Chrystal C. Brown and John L. Brown both of Ellery Center; James Brown and Wesley J. Brown both of Falconer; four sisters, Rossabelle Grimes of Jamestown; Cora Aldrich; Grace Larkin; and Marjorie Briggs all of Falconer.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lelya Bourquin; an infant sister, Hazel Brown; and an infant brother, Charles Brown.
