Cora A. (Brown) Aldrich

FALCONER - Cora A. Brown Aldrich, 78, of Falconer, passed away Monday (July 4, 2016) in her home with her family at her side.

She was born Sept. 29, 1937, in Erie, Pa., a daughter of the late Chrystal and Eva Winkler Brown.

In earlier years, Cora was employed by Cardinal Hills Golf Course and Lutheran Social Services. Prior to retirement in 2002, she was employed by Randolph Central School for 21 years as a custodian.

Cora will be remembered as a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking for them. Cora also enjoyed reading, gardening, restoring old houses, fixing and reselling houses, and collecting dolls. She also had a loving dog and companion, Annie.

Cora was a courageous woman when faced with adversity and was a champion of women's rights.

Surviving are two sons, James K. Aldrich II of Maryland and Randall J. Aldrich of Randolph; two daughters, Cynthia (Doug) Kowalski of Little Valley and Jacklyn (Charles) Courtney of Falconer; 13 grandchildren, Amy Reedy, Tennielle Zebrowski, Ryan Snow, Taylor Courtney, Zebadiah Courtney, John Paul Kowalski, Christina Marie Anthony, Jennifer Aldrich, Ellissa Aldrich, Chelsea Aldrich, Randall Aldrich II, Amy Honey and Kristina Ruth; nine great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Brown of Ellery Center and James Brown and Wesley (Marcia) Brown, both of Falconer; and three sisters, Rosabelle Grimes, Grace Larkin and Marjorie (Larry) Briggs, all of Falconer.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James K. Aldrich, whom she married Dec. 18, 1954, in Jamestown, and who died Feb. 24, 2005; four brothers, Charles Brown, William "Bill" Brown, Lawrence "Stub" Brown and Chrystal Brown; and two sisters, Leyla Borquin and Hazel Brown.

Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.
