The son of James Madison Sr. and Ella Parks Boothe, he was born May 21, 1924, in Snyder, Texas. A self-employed rancher, he had lived in Carthage since 1971, moving from Snyder. He was a member of the Carthage Noons Lions Club, Panola County Cattlemen's Association, Carthage Country Club and West Panola Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 18, at 2:30 p.m. from the chapel of Jimerson Funeral Home with Leonard Jennings and Nels Thompson officiating. Burial followed in Restland Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Steve Beaver, Dwain Boothe, Jared Boothe, Shaune Boothe, Tod Boothe and Donald Wayne Vaughan.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Applegate, Edd Finklea, Roy Jeffress, Metz LaFollette, Gary McGuire, Jack Myers, John Neal, Philip Pool, Charles Ramage, Ronnie Tompkins and Delbert Twomey.
Boothe is survived by his wife, Kathryn Boothe and his mother Ella Boothe Taylor, both of Carthage; three sons, Tommy Boothe of Longview, Riley Boothe of Carthage and Powers Boothe of Woodland Hills, Calif.; one brother, J. M. Boothe of Deadwood; and five grandchildren.
