Funeral services for Mr. J. M. Boothe, Jr., age 84 of Carthage, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25, 2006 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mark Sloan and Brother Stephen Wiggins officiating. Entombment will follow in the Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Boothe passed away on Saturday morning, September 23, 2006 in Longview, Texas.

James Madison Boothe, Jr. was born on November 12, 1921 in Snyder, Texas to James Madison and Ella Parks Boothe. Mr. Boothe graduated from Hermleigh High School in Scurry County, Texas near Snyder in 1939. Mr. Boothe served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II was honorably discharged. He married Mary Lou Beavers on February 14, 1942 in Snyder, Texas. Mr. Boothe was a farmer and rancher, operating broiler houses for Tyson for 31 years. Mr. Boothe has lived in Carthage since 1972 moving from Hereford, Texas. He was a member of the Carthage Church of Christ.

Mr. Boothe was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Vestal Boothe.

Mr. Boothe is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Lou Boothe of Carthage; one son Wiley Dwain Boothe and wife Debra Ann of Carthage; two grandchildren, April Crowley and husband Sean of Carthage and Dallas Boothe of Carthage; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Boothe and Alexander Paul Crowley both of Carthage; three nephews, Tommy Boothe and wife Dixie of Carthage, Riley Boothe and wife Linda of Carthage, and Powers Boothe and wife Pam of Hidden Hills, California; and ten great-nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Kenny Pace, Jim Anders, Mike Hight, Todd Boothe, Larry Davis, and Ronnie Rhiddlehoover. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Leroy Griffith, Floyd Bush, Tom Ben Williams, A.C. Thompson, Bailey Thompson, Loren Wallace, and Jim Jones.
