Mrs. John W. Gayer
Mrs. Laura P. Gayer, 78, of Route 2 died Sunday at 11:06 p.m. at Good Samaritan Center.
She was born Jan. 10, 1896, in Wapello County, the daughter of George and Sophronia Overturf Houk. She was a member of the Evangelistic Foursquare Church. She married John W. Gayer in 1944, in Ottumwa. He died in 1953.
Surviving are one stepson, William Gayer of Route 2; three stepdaughters, Della Rolison of Ottumwa, Mabel VanNess of Martinsburg and Helen Terrell of Rockford, Ill.; several stepgrandchildren; one sister, Edna Gruwell of Route 2; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
The service will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. George King of the Evangelistic Foursquare Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Kirk, Billy Gayer, Paul and Ron King. Leslie Gruwell and DeVerne Houk.
