Son of James Baker and Sarah (Richey) Baker. Brother of Mary Ann Baker, Aaron Baker , Anne (Baker) Baker , and James Baker .


Married 1) Mary Kelly on Nov. 19, 1870. Together they became the parents of James Baker, John Thomas Baker, David George Baker, Walter Aaron Baker, Mary Ann "Anne" Baker [1880-2], Ellen Baker [1883-1892], William Baker, Mary Maud 'Amy' (Baker) Cooper, Francis Henry Baker, Edward Arthur 'Ned' Baker, Oliver Septimus 'Ollie' Baker, Edeva Ruby Edna (Baker) Rush, and Albert N. "Arthur" Baker [b. & d. 1900].

Married 2) Sophia (Brooker) Delaney on Jan 23, 1904 at St. Johns Chapel in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. To this marriage she brought four children of her own. Together they became the parents of Cornelia Hazel (Baker) Denton.


OBITUARY
MR. J. T. BAKER
The death occurred yesterday morning at his home, 18 Darlow street, Wagga, of a well known and very old pioneer of the Wagga district, Mr. John Thomas Baker, after a few weeks illness, at the age of 82 years. He was born at Maitland (N.S.W.), and was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Baker, of Lake Albert, with whom he came to this district when a child. Mrs. Baker selected land at Tywong, Forest Hill and later at Gregadoo, afterwards living at Lake Albert. He spent the evening of his life at his home in Darlow street. He was known far and wide as 'Tywong Tom' Baker, to distinguish him from the many other people of the same surname who lived in the district. He was the last member of the family of his generation, In the breaking in of blood and young horses, and as a rough rider in his day, he had no superior and few equals. He was an expert in the handling of large horse and bullock teams. With his brother-in-law, the late Mr. E. Kelly, in the wool seasons, he was entrusted by large graziers with the carriage of their wool from the stations to Wodonga and to Wagga. Mr. Baker was of a kind and generous mature and he was twice, married. His first wife was Miss Mary Kelly, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Kelly, of Albury-road, and there were 13 children of the marriage, nine of whom are living, Messrs. James Baker of Docker street, John Thomas Baker of Queensland, David George of Wagga, William of Delegate, Francis Henry of "Moonee Valley," Gregadoo, Edward Arthur of Wagga, Oliver Septimus of "Gumly Park," Tarcutta road, and Mrs. David Cooper of , Perth (W.A.), and Mrs. Charles Rush of "Bradford," Gregadoo. Two sons and two daughters predeceased him. His first wife died in June, 1900. He later married Mrs. Sophia Delaney, widow of Mr. Dennis Delaney, of Gumly Gumly, and she survives him. There is one daughter by the marriage, Mrs. Ernest Denton of Rowan. He also leaves 39 grandchildren. Mr. Baker was a very old member of the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows, and was very highly esteemed by the members. The funeral will leave the residence in Darlow street to-day at 2 o'clock for the Methodist section of the Wagga cemetery. Members of the M.U. I.O.O.F. are asked to attend. It is desired that there shall be no flowers.
