Mr. Salyer died on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 in a Lawton hospital.
Services are under the direction of the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Fletcher.
He was born on February 20, 1927 in Binger, Oklahoma to Stephan and Lacy (Clift) Salyer. After high school, Foy served our country in the Naval services. After his military career, he moved back to Cyril, Oklahoma and spent six years working at the Anderson Prichard Oil Refinery. He moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado where he worked at Halliburton for three years in Fort Morgan and then Sterling, Colorado for eight years. He met the love of his life, Colleen Castor while living in Fort Morgan and they were married there on May 2, 1954. Foy then moved his wife and children to Anadarko, Oklahoma and spent a few years selling insurance for Lincoln Income. He then moved back to Loveland, Colorado and retired from Woodward Governor in 1989. He spent the rest of his life enjoying retirement.
Our husband, Daddy and Papa loved hunting, camping, and fishing in the Colorado Rockies, ministering to others through Bible Studies and visits to care facilities, playing board games with friends and family members, enjoying long walks and bike rides in the early mornings and late evenings, challenging others to a good game of horse shoes, gardening, and spending many hours studying the word of God. He also loved making those weekly visits to the local hospital for a good meal. We're so thankful God gave us 87 years with him. We'll miss him dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen of 60 years, his children, Lonnie Salyer and his wife Judy; Stephanie Rutledge and her husband Mike; Darvin Salyer; and Mike Salyer and his wife Alison; nine grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; two sisters, one brother, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made in Honor of Foy to the First Baptist Church, 213 W. Main, Cyril, OK 73029.
