Mrs. Coker was born in Sumter, a daughter of Larry Leroy Ardis, Senior and Bertie Vermelle Ardis Ardis.

She married Charles Paul Post, Jr. on November 8, 1965 at North Trenholm Baptist Church in the Arcadia Lakes area of Columbia, SC. When she and Charles moved to Lexington County, they united with Edwards Memorial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where Barbara served at the piano and organ, led the children's choir, taught a Sunday School class of young children, assisted by her husband, Charles, and directed Vacation Bible School.

After her first marriage ended, Barbara became the devoted wife of Franklin Clyde Coker on December 19, 1981 at Mount Tabor Lutheran Church in West Columbia, SC. The couple moved home to Sumter in 1995 where her husband, Clyde served as an elder of Swan Lake Presbyterian Church and later, Faith Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

She was the mother of Anne Alissa Post Best of Chapin; and John Paul Post of Gaston; the grandmother of Kayla Elizabeth Best; Jonathan Turner Post; and Connor Allen Best. Mrs. Coker was the great-grandmother of Lincoln Colt Henegar of Chapin.

A former Daughter of the American Revolution, Sumter's Home Chapter, who descended from American Patriot Sgt. Thomas Kolb of South Carolina who served with General Thomas Sumter.

She will be laid to rest beside her beloved Clyde and near her father.

A private family gathering has been planned, assisted by the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home staff.
