Mrs. Clifford Canon, Former Teacher, Dies at Age 74
TYRINGHAM -- Mrs. Abbie G. Canon, 74, wife of Clifford R. Cannon, died this morning at her home on Main St. after a short illness.

Born here Dec. 23, 1878, she was the daughter of Wallace W. and Hanna Canon Garfield. She was educated in Tyringham schools and graduated from the Northfield School for Girls and North Adams State Teachers College. For many years she taught in Stockbridge and Tyringham schools.

Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Miss Carolyn G. Canon at home; two sons, J. Northrup of Tyringham and W. Garfield Canon of Lee; two sisters, Miss Leona Garfield and Blanche Rouse, both of Tyringham; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The body is at the Kelly Funeral Home and will be taken late this afternoon to her late home where friends may call at their convenience. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at a time to be announced. Burial will be in the Tyringham Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Canon will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at her home on Main st. followed at 2 in the Union Church with a service led by the Rev. Franklin L. Couch, pastor. Burial will be in the Tyringham Cemetery.
