Hamilton C. Thofson, 82, of Hartland died Jan. 24, 1985 at Neave Hospital. He had been a resident of Good Samaritan Center of rural Albert Lea since October of 1983.
Hamilton was born July 29, 1902 in Hartland Township to Christ and Mina (Siblerud) Thofson. He was baptized as a infant and confirmed August 5, 1917 at West Freeborn Lutheran Church by Rev. Lunde.
He married Esther Tukua on Feb. 27, 1928 in the church parsonage in Hartland. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in 1984.
He was a dairyman and farmer at Hartland. Prior to that he had served as church janitor and sexton of West Freeborn Lutheran church for about ten years.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; four sons; Earl and his wife Mildred and family of Medford; Verlyn and his family of Manchester; Virgil and his wife Arlene of Hartland; Donald of Hartland.
One daughter, Marjorie and her husband, the Rev. Donald Schoeppler and family of Fulda, Minnesota.
Ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Two brothers survive him; Malmin Thofson of Ellendale and Alert Thofson of Manchester.
Six sisters also survive; Clara Knutson of Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea, Amy (Mrs. William) Yanke of Ellendale; Viola (Mrs. Grover) Cleland of Jacksonville, Florida; Berta (Mrs. Earl) Collins of Geneva; Elsie (Mrs. Kenneth) Enderson of Clarks Grove and Mrs. Ruby (Mrs. Merle) Horan of Verndale, Minnesota.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Caloun in infancy and George in June 1971 and one sister, Marie (Mrs. Joseph) Madson in 1978.
Funeral service were3 held at West Freeborn Lutheran Church, Hartland on Jan. 28, 1985. Interment will be int he church cemetery.
