Annie Nicholls Shumway died Nov. 6, 2009 at the New Horizons Care Center in Lovell. She was born on July 21, 1912, to Charles and Chresta Hartley Nicholls in Lovell.
She married Bradford Kay Shumway in Billings, on Jan. 4, 1930. They settled on a farm in ‘Pumpkin Center' outside of Lovell. Their three children were born on the family farm, delivered by Dr. Minnis.

Annie is survived by her son Boots (Barbara) Shumway of Lovell; grandchildren Renee Strom and Raland Strom of Helena, Mont., Cresta (Ray) Peterson of Cowley, Nathan Shumway of Patagonia, Ariz., Kristin Carleton of Grapevine, Texas, and Eric Carleton of Berkeley, Calif., six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband B. Kay, her son Lee, her daughter B. Kae Strom, grandsons Randy Strom and Rebb T. Shumway, and siblings William Nicholls, Erma Glasgow, Herbert Nicholls, Clyde Nicholls, Jacie Bassett, Gilmore Nicholls, Naomi Waters Fales, Kate Cozzens, and Hilma Harmon Wheat.

Annie worked as a nurse's aide at the original North Big Horn Hospital/Nursing Home. She worked the floor, as well as in sterile supply until she retired in 1978. Annie's house and yard were always meticulously kept.

Annie and B. Kay enjoyed riding around and picnicking in the hills and the mountains of this beautiful area they called home. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She had a beautiful smile that touched hearts and will be missed.
