Clarence Floyd Hatt was born on 25 December 1914, in Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana, to Prince Albert and Grace Alice Spencer Hatt.

There were twelve known children born to Prince and Grace, but six died at a very young age. Those who died young included Herbert Earl, Margarite R., Ethel Gertrude, Mildred, Robert L., and Paul Veron Hatt. Those who lived to be adults were Dorothy Isbelle Hatt Tanner, Clarence Floyd, Charles William, Lorena Hatt, Betty Hatt Pattengale Rutherford, and Ralph O. Hatt.

Clarence married Marie Louise Mote on 3 May 1944, at Frankfort, Clinton County, Indiana. Marie was the daughter of Dean Oris and Paralee Snellenbarger Mote.

There were four daughters born of Clarence and Marie's union. The daughters were living at the time of Clarence's death.

Clarence died on 17 October 2000 and was laid to rest beside his wife, Marie Louise Mote Hatt, in the Crown Point Cemetery on 19 October 2000.
