Dorothy Isabell Hatt was born on 18 February 1911, in Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana, to Prince Albert and Grace Alice Spencer Hatt.

There were twelve known children, including Grace in the family. The six children who died as infants or youths were: Herbert Earl, Margarite R., Ethel Gertrude, Mildred, Robert L., and Paul Vernon. Those who lived to be adults were Dorothy Isabell (Tanner, Comer), Clarence Floyd, Charles William, Lorena Maxine (Hall, Williams), Betty (Rutherford,Pattengale), and Ralph O. Hatt. There was a half-sister, Pauline Elizabeth (Delrymple), who lived with an aunt after her mother, Gertrude Parkey Hatt died ca 1906.

Dorothy married George Tanner 15 August 1929 in Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana. There were two known children born of their union. Their son Wayne Edmund Tanner was born 28 May 1930. He died on 19 July 1931, at the age of fourteen months. He is buried in the Crown Point Cemetery. A living daughter was also born of their union.

It is not known when George Tanner died or if they were divorced, but in January 1935 a marriage licenses was requested for Charles William Comer and Dorothy Tanner, but date of their marriage was not found in the newspapers.
Five known children were born of their union.

Mrs. Charles Comer, Sr.
Mrs. Dorothy I. Comer, 51, 810 S. Diamond St., died at her home at 5:30 a.m. Thursday. she had been ill, but death was unexpected.

Born on Feb. 18, 1911 in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Prince and Grace (Spencer) Hatt. Living in Kokomo all of her life, she was married in 1930 to Charles Comer Sr., who survives. She attended the Koper chapel.

Surviving with the husband are three daughters, Mrs. Ray (Joellene)Weitzel, Kempton R. R. 1; Mrs. Donald (Odabelle) Akers, Kokomo, and Mrs. John (Joyce) Warner, Greentown; two sons, Charles Comer Jr., Kokomo and James Comer, at home; one step-daughter, Mrs. Gene (Ruby) Kendall, Russiaville R. R. 2; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Prince Hatt, Kokomo; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Gene (Betty) Pattengale, Kokomo; and Mrs. Phillip (Lorena) Hall, Anderson; three brothers, Floyd Hatt, Ralph Hatt, and Charles Hatt, all of Kokomo.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ellers Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapel after 6 p.m. Thursday.
