Hugh Nolan Lambert, Jr., son of the late Hugh Nolan Lambert, Sr. and Rosa Lee Elena Smith Lambert.

Husband of Ann Gilliam, 3-11-1929 - 2-2-1992. They were parents of 5 sons.

After graduating from high school, Hugh volunteered for the Army Air Corp, soon after to become the U. S. Air Force, and was accepted. He graduated top of his class and was commissioned to 2nd Lieutenant. Hugh was the youngest pilot in World War 11. He became a bomber pilot with the 379th bomb group of the 8th Air Force in Kembolton, England flying B-17's. After 25 combat missions over enemy held Europe, he returned to the States to become an instructor pilot for B-29's. After the war he returned to Cherokee, North Carolina, but he was sent to the Pacfic to participated in the atom bomb tests. He participated in several tests at Eniwetah Atoll. He was recalled to active duty again during the Korean War as an instructor in B-2. Hugh was a Captain in the U. S. Air Force serving in World War 11 and the Korean Conflict.

Hugh was also a commercial airline pilot and retired with Pan American World Airways in 1981.
