John Hall Lambert, 79, of Covington, Fountain County, Indiana, died at his home on January 26, 2017.
John was born on September 21, 1937 in Cherokee, Swain County, North Carolina. He was proud of his Native American Heritage as a member of The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indian.
He was the son of the late Hugh Nolan Lambert, Sr. and Ava Laurena Hall Lambert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Broadus Blaine Emory and Amy Loyd Brown Emory; brother-in-laws, Franklin Lionel McCall, Dr. Harold Owen and Dr. David Jones; sister-in-law, Jackie Cabe Lambert; eight brothers, Herbert Lambert, Jarrett Lambert, Paul Lambert, Arthur Lambert, Albert Lambert, Hugh Lambert, Jr., Lloyd Lambert and Fredric Lambert and two sisters, Mary Lambert Luff and Virginia Lambert Sweet.
John graduated from Brevard High School, class of 1955, Brevard, North Carolina and North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina (Go State). While attending College he worked as a Draftsman, for Electric Storage and Battery Company. After graduation, he worked as an Engineer for Corning Glass Works, Raleigh, North Carolina. In 1964, hired by Olin Corporation, (Paper Side), Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, he was transferred to the Covington Cellophane Plant in March of 1978 as Manager of Maintenance and Utilities. In 1994 he retired with 30 years of service with Olin/Flexel Corporation.
John gave his Heart to the Lord when he was 10 years old, and was baptized in the Oconaluftee River. He was a member of the Etowah Baptist Church, Etowah, North Carolina, serving as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher; and a present member of the Covington United Methodist Church.
John was an avid reader, enjoyed working in his yard, dancing, walking and holding hands with the love of his life.
John is survived by his wife, Lorraine Emory Lambert, they married on December 21, 1957, Brevard First Baptist Church, Brevard, North Carolina; two daughters, Vicky Lee Lambert Pontious (Michael) of League City, Texas, and Penny Lorraine "Lori" Lambert Lathrop (William) of Covington, Indiana; two grandson, Mitchel Hall Lathrop of Los Angeles, California and Philip Michael Lathrop of Covington, Indiana; two brothers, Richard Randolph Lambert (Jency) of Brevard, North Carolina, and Roy Adams Lambert of Cherokee, North Carolina; three sisters, Betty Ann Lambert McCall, Sarah Kay Lambert Jones, both of Brevard, North Carolina and Peggy Sue Lambert Phipps (Carl) of Winston Salem, North Carolina; "adopted Son" Alan Lape of Covington, and many, many, nieces and nephews.
Minister: Rev. Andy Harkelroad; Pallbearers, Alan Lape, John Inman, Chuck Pippin, Nick Linville, Doug Keeling and Brad Crain.
Dickerson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements, and cared for the family.
