Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 20, in Minneapolis. Burial will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Milton William Schliep was born May 27, 1921, in Nassau, the son of Detlef and Louise (Stoltenburg) Schliep. He attended Nassau Public School and graduated from Marietta High School in 1939. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married LuVerne Anna Ulricka Heyer in 1941, and they were later divorced. He married Betty Jane (Butenhoff) Barnhart on December 31, 1966, in Aitkin. Betty preceded him in death on December 30, 1989.
Surviving are two daughters, Gayle (Stewart) Dansby of Clara City and Corliss (Donald) Alstad of Hopkins; one son, Brian (Linda) Schliep of Stillwater; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillian Wechsler of Mesa, AZ; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Schliep of Madison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, her wife, one brother, Raymond Schliep, one half sister, Hertha Redepenning, three half brothers, Arnold Schliep and Herbert Schliep and one half brother in infancy and one brother-in-law, Howard Wechsler.
