Raymond C. Schliep, 63, of Madison, formerly of Louisburg, passed away Saturday, April 3, 1982, at Madison Hospital, Madison.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 6, at Louisburg Lutheran Church in Madison, with Rev. Thomas Koelin officiating. The Louisburg Lutheran Choir provided the music, with Mary Williamson at the organ. Pallbearers were Howard Hill, Elmer Johnson, Harold Alexander, Herb Amundson, Gunder Johnson and Clarence Johnson. Honorary groups of the Madison VFW and Bellingham and Madison American Legion Posts were present. Burial was in the Hayden City Cemetery, Madison, Minnesota.

Raymond Carl Albert Schliep was born January 6, 1919, in Nassau, Minnesota, the son of Detlef and Louise (Struss) Schliep. He was baptized on February 23, 1919, at Trinity Lutheran Church and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Nassau. He attended public school in Nassau and Marietta. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in October 1942, and was wounded during the D Day Normandy Invasion. He received the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars and was honorable discharge in November 1946. He married Dorothy Victoria Johnson on April 3, 1943, at Madison Lutheran Church in Madison. They made their home in Louisburg, where he was employed for 31 years with the Lac qui Parle County Highway Department, until his retirement. They then made their home in Burnsville, until moving to Madison of this year. He was a member of the Louisburg Lutheran Church and the Madison VFW. He enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing and gardening.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; three sons, Ronald Schliep of Apple Valley, Steven Schliep of Sioux City, IA, and Bruce Schliep of Burnsville; three grandchildren; one sister, Lillian (Howard) Wechsler of Mesa, AZ; two half-sisters, Edna (Herb) Wittnebel, and Hertha (Paul) Redepenning, both of Ortonville; one brother, Milton Schliep of Garrison; and one half-brother, Henry Stoltenberg of Ortonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Herbert and Arnold Schliep.
