A family devotional service was 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 20, at Schoen-Ecklund Funeral Home in Ortonville.
Funeral services were 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 21, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Nassau, with Rev. Berdell Digerness officiating. Mrs. Orla Wittnebel sang the solo, accompanied by Mrs. Carole Gerber. Mrs. Merlyn Wirkus was the organist and accompanied the congregational hymn. Pallbearers were Gerald Wittnebel, Ronald Schliep, Brian Schliep, Gregory Anderson, Charles Wechsler and Gordon Gloege. Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Nassau, Minnesota.
Louise Caroline Struss was born August 13, 1879, in Peru, Illinois, the daughter of William and Augusta (Piplau) Struss. She had lived with her family at Altamont, South Dakota and Marietta, before residing in Nassau. She married Charles Stoltenburg on September 10, 1901, in Clear Lake, South Dakota. Charles preceded her in death on August 30, 1909. She married Detlef Schliep on December 13, 1911, in Madison. Detlef preceded her in death on October 17, 1932. She had been a resident of Lakeview Nursing Home in Ortonville, before moving to Parkview Nursing Home in 1967. During her resident in Nassau, she had been a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Aid of St. Paul's.
Surviving are two daughters, Edna (Herb) Wittnebel of Ortonville and Lillian (Howard) Wechsler of New Ulm; one step-daughter, Hertha (Paul) Redepenning of Ortonville; three sons, Henry (Agnes) Stoltenburg of Ortonville, Raymond (Dorothy) Schliep of Louisburg and Milton (Betty) Schliep of Garrison; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma (Nick) Schammel of Kenmare, ND, and Marian Longworth of Ortonville; and one brother, Henry (Mary) Struss of Seattle, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one daughter, Evelin Stoltenburg, two step-sons, Arnold and Herbert Schliep, five sisters and three brothers.
