Betty J. Schliep, 58, of rural Garrison, passed away Saturday, December 30, 1989, at the Cuyuna Range Hospital in Crosby.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, at Mille Lacs Funeral Home in Isle. A memorial fund has been established in her memory.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 1990, at The Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Garrison. Auxiliary ritual will be at 10:45 a.m., by the VFW Post No# 1816. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Betty Jane Butenhoff was born May 18, 1931, in Mora, Minnesota, the daughter of Bernard and Myrtle (Fagerstrom) Butenhoff. She graduated from Mora High School in 1949. She proudly served in the U.S. Navy. She married Clarence Wilbert Barnhart, on May 19, 1947, in Kanabec, Minnesota, and were later divorced. She married Milton William Schliep on December 31, 1966, in in Aitkin.
Surviving are her husband, Milton; one daughter, Dotty Ann (John) Cary of Minneapolis; one son, Wilbert Barnhart of Thief River Falls; three grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann (Gerald) DeRosier of Colorado Springs, CO; and one sister-in-law, Bernice Butenhoff of Mora.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, DeLois Butenhoff and one nephew, Duane Butenhoff.
