My Great Great Grandmother

Sarah died from childbed fever. The doctor who attended her had just come from delivering another baby whose mother was ill. More than likely, his instruments were not sterilized -- and Sarah died from infection.

Sarah's family blamed her husband for her death. They thought if he had better employment he could have afforded a more reliable doctor. Add to that the fact they were strictly religious....him not so much. Sarah's sister raised the child (my great grandmother). My great grandmother remembered her father visiting her although not frequently. She spoke of him with love. I think of him as a "free spirit". Maybe that is what attracted Sarah to him since her upbringing was so strict.

Probably buried at Oak Spring Cemetery - the rest of her family are there. Her husband is buried at Speer Spring Cemetery with his second wife.
